01 - Thoroughly rinse the pearl barley under cold running water to remove any impurities.
02 - Place the rinsed barley in a bowl and cover with water, allowing it to soak for at least 1 hour to soften the grains.
03 - Drain the soaked barley and transfer it to a medium saucepan. Add 3 cups of fresh water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
04 - Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer the barley gently for 45 to 50 minutes, or until tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
05 - Stir in unsalted butter, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, mixing until the butter melts and the flavors are well combined.
06 - Spoon the maple barley into serving bowls while warm and enjoy.
