01 - Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
02 - In a medium saucepan, combine rice, water, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until rice is tender and water is absorbed.
03 - Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes to complete steaming.
04 - Fluff the rice with a fork. Stir in butter, maple syrup, and milk while the rice is still warm until well combined.
05 - Divide the rice among serving bowls. Top with toasted nuts, dried fruit, and a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Serve warm.
